My mother very definitely was little interested in domestic chores and mornings were sometimes filled with my father's fury that he had no ironed shirts to wear to work (1960s). One day I discovered in Chatelaine, possibly, an article detailing instructions on how to properly iron shirts. I actually liked ironing shirts and mornings were more peaceful. No idea how long I kept it up.
