The series came about when I considered how to use the sample pots of paint left after the painting of the hall at my home. Fed up with my usual process which usually has no clear plan and lots of indecision and angst, I decided upon a simple format and the steps to take to get there.
But it just didn't go so smoothly. I wasn't able to avoid the indecision and angst and temporary paralysis. Pretty maddening. When you get through all that it feels pretty good. And I think the work looks so peaceful and serene. The contrast between the properties of paint and graphite is interesting and they complement each other so well. I like the white borders and the limited palette.
Each work has the title of one of the interior paint colours I used.
All been a new direction for me - but same old struggle.
